Overview

The Hilti HAT 28 M Anchor test kit is a system designed for pull testing and proof loading fastenings. This Anchor Tester, also referred as a pull-out tester consists of the Hilti HAT test unit itself with an integral hydraulic load cell, measuring the load applied. As well as two quick release manometer gauges 0 -5kN and 25kN, accompanied by a range of accessories to allow pull testing on a vast variety of fastenings.

These accessories include slotted button adaptors for bolts, stud-compatible button adaptors, load indicator, threaded rods, stud adaptors, and a ring bolt adapter clevis for ring bolt connections needed to be made fast. If necessary, connections are also offered for wall ties, insulation, and tiny screws. The accessories included ensure the correct tension is applied to the anchors.

The 28 M Hilti HAT is suitable for proof loading of specific test loads to anchors set in various materials, whilst also performing pull-out tests determining pull-out resistance of anchors as well as DX fasteners, pins, and studs in test labs or on site.

What is an anchor pull test?

A pull test determines the correct anchoring system is correct for the project on hand by testing the resistance of a base material. Pull tests can be destructive in which you test to failure, or It can be used to test a proof load in which it is a non-destructive test.

How do you perform an anchor pull test with the Hilti HAT 28 system?

1. The load distribution bridge is already mounted on the tester. For HAP 2.5 tests, secure the HAP 2.5 load distribution bridge. Be sure to use longer screws (40 mm) to secure this bridge.

2. Select the appropriate attachment for the fitting.

3. Pass the adapter through the bridge and engage the head centred in the loading claw foot of the tester.

4. Turn the tester to a position in which the pressure gage is easy to read.

5. Adjust the length of the threaded legs to have all three legs in contact with the supporting surface and have the pull-out movement along the axis of the fastener and parallel to the threaded legs.

6. Set the red pointer of the gage to zero. Hold the tester by the grip while increasing the load on the fastener by turning the crank clockwise.

7. Increase the load until the minimum specified load is attained.

8. To relieve the load on the fastener, turn the crank counter-clockwise and push it down until the original state is reached.

9. Now remove pull-out tester and adapter.
