Utility Tracing Including use of Precision Locators
ESS Utility tracing courses focus on the use of multi frequency locate systems and how operators such as utility service coordinators, utility supervisors or engineers can get the best outcome when using this specialist equipment
CITB grant may be available for organisations registered with the Construction Industry Training Board
Focussing on utility tracing products and established safe systems of works the course aims to provide delegates with sufficient information, knowledge and confidence to conduct a utility survey and mark up.
The course encourages delegate participation throughout the day with open discussions on best practices, use of accessories and techniques aimed to get the best performance from the equipment.
- Overview of multi frequency locators (RD8200) and Signal Transmitters (TX range)
- Review of the locator and transmitters menu options, product configuration and test
- Use of the locators detect options and antenna configuration including peak, null and combined options
- Effective use of the signal transmitter frequency range
- Using the locator and signal transmitter to conduct a comprehensive utility scan and trace
- Utility depth estimation and the importance of accuracy
- Identifying complex situations including signal symmetry/distortion and how this can influence the locate outcome
- Use of accessories to improve the tracing of buried utilities including the use of sondes
- System integration with third party or allied products for utility mapping, or product control via Bluetooth connectivity
- Relative health and safety guidance including HSG47 and the need to work within and maintain a safe system of work
