QNUK Level 3 Award in Rescue Trauma and Casualty Care (RTACC) (RQF)
RTACC requires a 4-day requalification after 3 years and an annual refresher is strongly recommended in line with industry standards.

QNUK Level 3 Award in Rescue Trauma and Casualty Care (RTACC) (RQF)
RTACC is an advanced level first aid and casualty care course which can be personalised and contextualised to the needs of any organisation. As well as being accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, England it is also validated by The ATACC Group Medical Advisory Group (MAG) and wider Faculty which consists of Doctors, Nurses, Registered Health Care Professionals and technical specialists in Remote Medicine, Search and Rescue and Tactical medicine. Central to the RTACC course is scenario-based training using live actors and high quality, realistic casualty simulation designed to enhance the fidelity of any given incident.
RTACC is suitable for, and has been adopted by Fire and Rescue Services, specialist Police officers, close protection groups, industrial medical response teams and those who operate in high risk, remote or non-permissive environments.
- Roles and responsibilities of the RTACC provider
- Safe approach, scene assessment and initial actions
- Kinematics, mechanism of injury and injury patterns
- Massive haemorrhage control using manual techniques and, wound packing and tourniquets
- Airway assessment and management techniques using manual methods and airway adjuncts – oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal and supraglottic. Ventilation using bag valve mask or pocket mask
- Respiratory assessment including the recognition and management of thoracic trauma including the use of chest seals
- Safe use of oxygen and pulse oximetry
- Circulatory assessment, recognition and management of internal blood loss, external blood loss and hypovolaemic shock
- Head and other Injuries management including minor injuries, thermal injuries, musculoskeletal trauma, splinting, immobilisation, helmet removal, environmental factors-the effects of cold and heat
- Casualty reassessment, history taking, working with the emergency services and patient handover
- Adult, child and infant Basic and Immediate Life support, pit crew approach, safe use of a defibrillator and post resuscitation care.
- Recognition and treatment of airway obstruction (choking)
- Assessment and treatment of common medical emergencies
