6160-04 City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Control Entry and Arrangements for Confined Spaces (High Risk)
Course Duration: 3 Days – 24 GLH (Guided learning hours). Course starts at 09:00, finishes around 17:00
Course Locations: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Middlesbrough, Castleford, Manchester, Wellingborough, Rainham, Heathrow, Southampton and Exeter.
ESS are also able to offer Nationwide onsite Training subject to availability and necessary approvals.
Course Aims
This course is designed to provide delegates that need to enter Medium and High Risk Confined Spaces with an in-depth understanding of legislation, regulations and Safe Systems of Work. This course includes recognising all risk levels of Confined Spaces.
- Recognition of all confined space risk levels under the UK OGN and NOS
- Overview of legal responsibilities including the Confined Space Regulations and guidance
- Duties of the entrant, entry controller (including BA control) and manager
- Emergency arrangements when wearing Breathing Apparatus
- Recovery of a fallen team member
- Understanding of Risk Assessments and Method statements
- Understand and use of Permit to Work
- Explosive dangers from Gasses and safe use of gas monitors
- Safe use Breathing Apparatus
- Safe use and fitting of a rescue harness.
- Pre use inspection & correct assembly of Tripod & retrieval device.
- Practical exercises including using equipment & emergency escape drill
- Pre-use checks and tests on equipment (including BA) and areas
- Donning, Doffing and using multiple Breathing Apparatus
- Pre-entry procedures and entry documentation
- Entry monitoring including entry control, communications and continuous atmosphere checks and Breathing Apparatus Control Boards
- Emergency arrangements including recovery of a fallen team member
- Use and application of equipment and procedures for high risk confined spaces and emergency arrangements.
