Leica DD120 Cable Locator

Leica DD120 utility locator, gathering information and marking up the position of buried utilities before you break ground is not only a sensible and logical approach, it is also a necessary safety aspect as outlined by HSE’s HSG47 Avoiding Dangers from underground services. The Leica DD120 cable locator provides operators with a robust and simple to use product with safety in mind.  Switch on and the locator is ready to go, starting in Power mode at maximum sensitivity (detection range) the locator is ready to detect signals radiating off electrical power cables.  

The locators automatic pinpointing means there is no need to manual adjust a sensitivity control to determine the utilities position or run the risk or missing utilities if the sensitivity control is set to low.  The automatic pinpointing means the operator can simply scan the area and mark utilities as indicated by a peak reading on the large display.  Once the operator has scanned the area in Power mode at a push of a button they can select Radio or Auto modes and continue to scan and mark up additional utilities.   

As recommended by the manufacturer and safety guidance the use of a signal transmitters such as the Leica DA220 is recommended.  The use of a signal transmitter is considered as best practice, it significantly improves the detection of utilities especially those that might not have a naturally occurring signal and cannot be found in Power or Radio modes.  It also means the operator can ascertain the utility depth when selecting from the locators 8kHz or 33kHz settings.
