ESS Delivers Survey Session For Students at Redbridge Community School

It was a pleasure for ESS to visit Redbridge Community School alongside Morgan Sindall Construction this week to showcase some of the latest laser scanning technology used across the construction and surveying industries including the Leica RTC360 and Leica BLK360 Laser Scanners..

For the second year running, the ESS team jumped at the opportunity to give students the chance to get hands-on with some of the most exciting survey technology available today. Our Technical Support Manager Nigel Gee, together with Greg Whitehead, demonstrated how laser scanning works in real-world environments and explained how this technology is used across infrastructure, construction and engineering projects.

A big thank you to Lee Chandler from Morgan Sindall, who organised the day and continues to champion opportunities that connect industry with the next generation of talent.

Lee commented:

“The scanners and software capabilities are incredible. These sessions Nigel prepared and executed made a huge impact on the students, providing insight into construction’s innovative techniques.”

It was fantastic to see how quickly the students engaged with the technology and how curious they were about the role surveying plays in modern construction.

One student said: “I never thought I would be working with lasers in construction – I just thought I would be working with my hands! Greg explained the method properly so I could understand.”

Another added:

“Doing this today made me want to learn more about surveying. This is what construction is all about in the real world.”

Opportunities like this are a great reminder of how important it is for industry and education to work together to inspire the next generation of engineers, surveyors and construction professionals.
