We’re proud to announce a major milestone in 1,000 consecutive days without a RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) reportable incident.

That’s nearly three years of safe operations, demonstrating not only compliance with UK health and safety law but more importantly, our commitment to protecting our people every single day.

Why this matters
RIDDOR requires organisations to report the most serious workplace incidents. From severe injuries to dangerous occurrences. Reaching 1,000 days without one shows that safety is not just a policy at ESS, it’s a culture.

How we got here
This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire team, supported by strong systems and investment in safety:

• Over the past year, the ESS Training Academy supported 281 users with 93% compliance, completing 11k courses, 159 active courses, 49 role-specific learning paths and delivering 169 in-person health & safety sessions.
• Monthly safety audits and near-miss reporting that turn lessons into improvements.

Internal safety initiatives such as;

•  Safety Stand Down days - For one dedicated hour, operations pause across the business so our entire team can focus on what matters most - The health, safety and well-being of our people, partners and customers.
• Authority to STOP work – Providing our people with the right to stop work when conditions are unsafe.

Payin’ It Safe - Designed to encourage, recognise and reward proactive engagement in health and safety across our business.
